This itinerary includes the river boat trip to Tortuguero where many species of birds, mammals and reptiles live.  Then a short flight and transfer to Arenal where you can hike around the Arenal Volcano, visiting hanging bridges or whitewater rafting. Then onto one of the senic beaches in Manuel Antonio areawhere monkey and sloth sightings are a given. The scenic views are gorgeous, making this a top getaway choice for families and couples.

Quepos where you can stay in moderate to luxury accommodations and visit one of the most popular National parks in Costa Rica.  Each day excursions are planned from early morning boat excursions along the canals and waterways to view the many different species of wildlife to the lush rainforest and beautiful beaches of Manuel Antonio.  This 8-day / 7-night package is designed for the family to experience some of the best features of Costa Rica and is independent so you can add or delete days and other destinations in Costa Rica such as Arenal, OsaTamarindo, Monteverde and the Southern Caribbean area.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 01 – Arrive into San Jose Costa Rica -Meet & Greet transfer to Hotel
Overnight:  Presidente Hotel

Day 02 – San Jose to Tortuguero.
Morning pick up and transfer Shuttle to boat. Boat to Tortuguero.Overnight at Pachira Lodge.

Tortuguero National Park is one of the most visited National Parks in Costa Rica and hosts many species of reptiles/amphibians, birds and mammals along with thousands of different trees and plants. Tortuguero is a remote area in the North Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica, there are no roads to get there, and access is available only by boat (or plane). During your stay lodging, meals and daily guided tours are included that will take you to discover waterways, lakes and canals around Tortuguero. Tortuguero’s shoreline is also one of the world’s most important nesting sanctuaries for Sea Turtles. Lodging is at a moderate level but very comfortable. Jungle lodges are designed to enhance the natural environment.

Day 04: Tortuguero / San Jose / Quepos
Morning flight from Tortuguero to San Jose.  Meet & Greet and transfer to Quepos. Overnight:

Manuel Antonio - The lush rainforest and translucent shoreline have helped to make Manuel Antonio and nearby Quepos immensely popular destinations for sportsmen, outdoor enthusiasts, and animal lovers from the world over. Manuel Antonio is the most visited National Park in Costa Rica, and this area may have more to do than almost anywhere in Costa Rica.-  Parador  (Breakfast Plan) – 5 Star

Day 05 - Quepos – Manuel Antonio
Half day tour of Manuel Antonio National Park

MANUEL ANTONIO NATIONAL PARK IS ONE OF THE MOST popular and famous National Parks in Costa Rica due to its wide variety of flora and fauna. The park itself boasts 3 different trails with very different inclinations, going from flat to very steep. You will be accompanied by a naturalist guide who is knowledgeable about everything you will see. The trail you will take is flat and picturesque and loops through the park making your course approximately 2 miles long (3.2 Km approximately). Throughout the hike your guide will stop to share information about the different species that can be observed; you will be able to take photographs or just admire the view. One of the highlights of this tour is that the park is home to 3 of the 4 species of monkeys that reside in Costa Rica. Halfway through the hike you will make a leisure stop at the third beach, located within the national park. You will have approximately 20 minutes to rest on the beach or play with the waves if you so choose. Along your hike you will be able to observe sloths, birds, and reptiles, as well as to admire orchids, butterflies, and tropical trees. The guides that will accompany you on this trip are equipped with Pentax and Swarovski telescopes that you can use to observe wildlife and take pictures with a different perspective. Your transportation will be ready to take you back to your hotel after finishing the tour. The park does not receive visitors on Mondays.Overnight:  Parador Hotel

Day 06 Quepos
Kayak Tour in Damas Island- Half Day
This morning you will experience the wonderful mangrove ecosystem. You will float along the calm currents under a verdant forest canopy. You will set out on the Paquita River, facing an island, and will float along with the soft currents under a verdant forest canopy. Make sure you keep your eyes open to spot the innumerable species of birds, snakes, anteaters, and White-faced capuchin monkeys. While you silently observe this rich habitat your guide will offer

explanations about the flora and fauna found in this unique region. This excursion will take you through the natural channels and provide you with an ideal opportunity to observe species of Herons, Kingfishers, Ospreys, Frigatebirds, and other migratory birds. As you journey through the brackish waters you can catch glimpses of the island while passing under tunnels made naturally by the growths of the trees. You journey across the waters will last for approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes; lunch can be arranged for before or after the trip. The kayaks are available in 1-passenger and 2-passenger format. No previous experience is required, but kids must be at least 8 years old to paddle alone.Children under 6 years old are not allowed.

Day 07 Quepos
Free Day or optional White Water rafting trip.
Overnight:  Parador

Enjoy of the local tropical rivers no matter if you are an expert, beginner, nature lover or thrill seeker, this expedition is for you. This full day adventure includes a journey into the very remote back country of the Savegre River for a 3 hour guided rafting trip with class II /III rapids. There are great swimming holes and a large variety of birds.

Day 08 Quepos to San Jose

Return to San Jose for your flight  back to the home.
