Day 01 – SAN JOSE or LIBERIA COSTA RICA

After arriving into San Jose you will meet and greet your private transfer outside the international terminal for your ground transfer to your the Arenal Area for the next 3-nights.

Day 02 – ARENAL  (B), (D)

This morning you will be picked up for a morning half day excursion to Arenal Hanging Bridges Tour –
AM Arenal Hanging Bridges Tour –
The Arenal Hanging Bridges tour takes place on a 600 acre reserve filled with lush vegetation and a variety of birds and animals which your experienced guide will help you spot. The trail itself is 1.9 miles (3.1 km) in length, crossing nine fixed bridges and 6 suspension bridges and is laid out at a maximum grade of 7 degrees so that anyone can walk it. Departure: 8:00am. 1:00pm
Includes: Transportation, naturalist guide and drinks.
What to bring: Comfortable clothing, hiking shoes, insect repellent, camera, binoculars, sunscreen (sunny days) or rain gear (rainy days).

PM Arenal Volcano Hiking Tour and Tabacon Hot Springs –
The Arenal Volcano tour starts with a drive to the western side of the volcano, which is the one that has been mostly affected by the initial activity since 1968. Once there, you will embark on a very informative hike on the Park trail´s. We can choose one of the trails depending on the client´s preference. We have Las Coladas trail which traverses the rainforest and crosses over a large lava flow from 1992 where we can observe all the impact of the past eruptions, or Los Tucanes trail which goes mostly thru the recovered forest of the past activity and where we can see more wildlife.

It is possible to observe a great variety of plants, wildlife and magnificent lava rock formations. Once on the top of the lava flow you will have a beautiful view of the Arenal Lake. The hike ends up at a view point, where if the weather allows you will see the volcano very close and feel like it is possible to reach with your hands. You will be able to feel some rocks rolling down, some seismic activity and some smoke from the main crater. Day 03 – Arenal (B)

The Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge is considered one of the richest sites in the continent for the observation of birds. Beside an abundance of birds, Caño Negro is also refuge of many other animals like: sloths, three types of monkeys, caimans, lizards, bats, and anative flora of the wet land.

Our tour to this beautiful region, leaves from La Fortuna, driving for about an hour and a half until Los Chiles, which is a rustic town that meets to only five kilometers of the border of Nicaragua, it is here where we take the boat down to Río Frío for about three hours. From the beginning of the trip, our professional guide will explain each one of the plantations that we will see on the way, as well as the flora and fauna of the region.
Departure: 7: 30 a.m – 3: 30 p.m. approximately.

This morning you will be picked up at your hotel for a morning half day excursion hike to the Monteverde Cloud Forest. After lunch you will be picked up at the hotel for your afternoon Canopy and Zip line tour.

AM Monteverde Cloud Forest Tour –
The variable climate and altitude of the protected Monteverde Reserve have produced an extremely diverse group of flora and fauna in a small area. The cloud forest features
majestically tall trees festooned with orchids, bromeliads, ferns, vines, and mosses. Wildlife species seen in the area include the jaguar, Baird´s tapir, three-wattled bellbird, bare-necked umbrella bird, and resplendent quetzal. This half day tour includes transportation, a tour guide, and entrance fees.

PM Selvatura Canopy and Walkways Tour –
This canopy tour in the Monteverde Cloud Forest features a system of trails and zip lines offering the opportunity to observe nature in the treetops. You’ll soar from platform to platform high above the ground. In addition to the zip lines, the tour also includes a number of trails and suspension bridges through the lower levels of the forest allowing visitors to fully explore the world of the cloud forest. Transportation, entrance fees, and a guide for the canopy tour portion are included as well.

Day 07 – Monteverde / RIU Palace (B, L,D)

Transfer from the Arenal area to the beautiful beaches of the Guanacaste Rui Palace. The RUI is an all-inclusive resort located on the Guanacaste Area of Costa Rica.

Day 05 - Quepos – Manuel Antonio
Half day tour of Manuel Antonio National Park

MANUEL ANTONIO NATIONAL PARK IS ONE OF THE MOST popular and famous National Parks in Costa Rica due to its wide variety of flora and fauna. The park itself boasts 3 different trails with very different inclinations, going from flat to very steep. You will be accompanied by a naturalist guide who is knowledgeable about everything you will see. The trail you will take is flat and picturesque and loops through the park making your course approximately 2 miles long (3.2 Km approximately). Throughout the hike your guide will stop to share information about the different species that can be observed; you will be able to take photographs or just admire the view. One of the highlights of this tour is that the park is home to 3 of the 4 species of monkeys that reside in Costa Rica. Halfway through the hike you will make a leisure stop at the third beach, located within the national park. You will have approximately 20 minutes to rest on the beach or play with the waves if you so choose. Along your hike you will be able to observe sloths, birds, and reptiles, as well as to admire orchids, butterflies, and tropical trees. The guides that will accompany you on this trip are equipped with Pentax and Swarovski telescopes that you can use to observe wildlife and take pictures with a different perspective. Day 06 Quepos
Kayak Tour in Damas Island- Half Day
This morning you will experience the wonderful mangrove ecosystem. You will float along the calm currents under a verdant forest canopy. You will set out on the Paquita River, facing an island, and will float along with the soft currents under a verdant forest canopy. Make sure you keep your eyes open to spot the innumerable species of birds, snakes, anteaters, and White-faced capuchin monkeys. While you silently observe this rich habitat your guide will offer

explanations about the flora and fauna found in this unique region. This excursion will take you through the natural channels and provide you with an ideal opportunity to observe species of Herons, Kingfishers, Ospreys, Frigatebirds, and other migratory birds. As you journey through the brackish waters you can catch glimpses of the island while passing under tunnels made naturally by the growths of the trees. You journey across the waters will last for approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes; lunch can be arranged for before or after the trip. The kayaks are available in 1-passenger and 2-passenger format. No previous experience is required, but kids must be at least 8 years old to paddle alone.Children under 6 years old are not allowed.

Along the Guanacaste region are some of the most popular beaches in Costa Rica.

Day 6 Quepos – Manual Antonio

DAY 01: Home to MANAGUA Nicaragua
Airport greeting and private transfer to hotel in Managua.

DAY 02: MANAGUA – MATAGALPA,
Breakfast and tour of the nation’s capital of Managua with visits to
key political and cultural sites, including its historic center and to
see the incredible footprints left by the Managua residents of 4,000
BC. Transfer north along the eastern shores of Lake Managua into the
heart of the coffee growing northern mountains Matagalpa. Visit to a
gourmet artisan chocolate factory, where high-grade organic Nicaraguan
cocoa is transformed into handmade chocolates. Lodging in private
cabin surrounded by cloud forest.

Day 03: SELVA NEGRA
Breakfast and morning guided nature walk with local guide and
afternoon eco-hacienda or organic coffee tour. Lodging in private
cabin.

Day 04: SELVA NEGRA – ESTELÍ – SAN JACINTO – LEON
Breakfast and transfer to Estelí.  Morning drive through the onion and rice
growing region of Sébaco to the cigar capital of Central America,
Estelí. Visit to a small handmade cigar operation to learn about this
unique process (Mon-Fri only) or a culture tour of the city with
visits to the revolutionary heroes’ hall, pre-Columbian museum and
cathedral. Continue towards the Pacific Coast to the 21 strong
Maribios Volcanic Range, 5 of which are active. Stop at the village of
San Jacinto, in the middle of the densely active Maribios Volcano
chain, to visit with its population and see their fumarolic fields,
the result of water being superheated on a volcanic vein beneath the
earth’s surface. Transfer to León current location, founded in 1610.
Lodging in the historic city center.

Day 05:  LEON – LAS PEÑITAS BEACH – LEON
Breakfast at hotel and morning walking tour of Nicaragua’s
intellectual and artistic capital colonial León, with visits to the
world famous poet Rubén Darío’s house, a colonial home art gallery,
some of the city’s 12 colonial period churches, which includes Central
America’s grandest cathedral. Transfer to the wave-swept Pacific Coast
to enjoy fresh seafood (meal cost not included) at an outdoor
restaurant on the beach. Return to León, lodging at Hotel Cacique
Adiact.

Day 06:  LEON – LEON VIEJO – GRANADA
Breakfast at hotel and transfer south to the base of the smoking
Momotombo Volcano and the archeological site of León Viejo, now
declared an UNESCO World Heritage Site. León Viejo was Nicaragua’s
first capital before being destroyed by earthquakes and volcanic
eruptions in the late 16th century. It is now being excavated and the
tragic history of the site has come to light. Complete historical tour
of this ancient colonial locale. Transfer to Central America’s oldest
European settlement, early 16th century Granada. Granada is quickly
becoming a must visit for travelers to Central America for its unique
beauty, relaxed atmosphere and great dining possibilities. Private
tour of lake front Granada’s colonial beauty, history and art. Lodging
on historic central park.

Day 07:  MESA VILLAGES – MASAYA – GRANADA
Breakfast at Hotel and transfer to the ancient highland villages of
“La Meseta”, for visits to the mesa artisan’s workshops of Catarina,
San Juan de Oriente and Masatepe. All these precious towns have
colonial period houses and churches and a hardworking, native
population. After the highland villages, transfer to the historic city
of Masaya, populated for more than 3,000 years and the arrival of the
Spanish in the early 16th century organized the local artisans in
small workshops for export. Masaya makes the world’s finest hammocks,
as well as wood, leather and clothing goods, all created by hand.
Masaya’s friendly population has restored their 19th century outdoor
indigenous market for the sale of their hand made goods. Visit to the
active cone of Santiago at the Masaya Volcano National Park for hiking
(if level volcanic activity permits) or just observing the inside of
this big smoking crater. Return to Granada for overnight.

Day 08:  GRANADA – OMETEPE ISLAND
Breakfast and private transfer with your private guide to San Jorge
for the ferry to the dual-volcano island of Ometepe. Dock greeting and
transfer around the active cone of Concepción to Santo Domingo Beach.

Day 09:  OMETEPE ISLAND
Breakfast and hike to San Ramon waterfall on Maderas Volcano and
swimming in fresh water sprint.

Day 10:  OMETEPE ISLAND – SAN JUAN DEL SUR
Breakfast and transfer to Moyogalpa for the ferry to the mainland.  Dock greeting in San Jorge and transfer to the lovely half-moon bay on the Nicaragua Pacific, San Juan del Sur. Lodging in the center of San Juan del Sur.

Day 14:ARENAL
Morning – Arenal Hanging Bridges Tour –
The Arenal Hanging Bridges tour takes place on a 600 acre reserve filled with lush vegetation and a variety of birds and animals which your experienced guide will help you spot. The trail itself is 1.9 miles (3.1 km) in length, crossing nine fixed bridges and 6 suspension bridges and is laid out at a maximum grade of 7 degrees so that anyone can walk it. Afternoon excursions to Arenal Volcano and Tabacon Hot Springs.
The Arenal Volcano tour transports guests to the active northwest side of the volcano. The tour begins with a hike and depending upon which side of the volcano the lava is flowing, we go either to the trail “Los Tucanes” at the National Park or Mirador El Silencio..It is possible to observe a great variety of plants, wildlife, magnificent lava rock formations and the Arenal Lake just in time for sunset!

During the tour, our experienced guides will provide interesting and educational information regarding the history of the majestic mountain and the Arenal Volcano National Park. The tour concludes with a relaxing stop at the Tabacon mineral hot springs, where you will enjoy a buffet dinner and relaxation in the hot springs.

Day 15:  ARENAL TO MONTEVERDE
In the morning you will meet your shared shuttle transfer outside the hotel for your ground and boat transfer across Lake Arenal to Monteverde  Afternoon is free.

Day 16 MONTEVERDE CLOUD FOREST TOUR
Morning Monteverde Cloud Forest Tour.  The variable climate and altitude of the protected Monteverde Reserve have produced an extremely diverse group of flora and fauna in a small area. The cloud forest features majestically tall trees festooned with orchids, bromeliads, ferns, vines, and mosses.  Wildlife species seen in the area include the jaguar, Baird´s tapir, three-wattled bellbird, bare-necked umbrella bird, and resplendent quetzal. This half day tour includes transportation, a tour guide, and entrance fees.
Afternoon canopy tour in the Monteverde Cloud Forest features a system of trails and zip lines offering the opportunity to observe nature in the treetops. You’ll soar from platform to platform high above the ground.  In addition to the zip lines, the tour also includes a number of trails and suspension bridges through the lower levels of the forest allowing visitors to fully explore the world of the cloud forest. Transportation, entrance fees, and a guide for the canopy tour portion are included as well.

Day 01 – USA to San Jose

Day 02 – San Jose to Arenal
You will be picked up at your San Jose area hotel in the morning, and transferred by private van to your Arenal Volcano area hotel. Your first stop along the way will be the Poás Volcano. Poás is an active volcano with a crater that emits steam from vents deep within. A second crater, with a rain-fed lake surrounded by highland rain forest, is located a half mile away, via a trail through a dwarf cloud forest.The next stop will be the nearby La Paz Waterfall Gardens. As you wander the trails of La Paz Waterfall Gardens, your senses will delight at the five waterfalls that line the trail. You will also have a chance to visit the largest butterfly garden in Costa Rica, orchid houses, as well as a hummingbird garden and bird observation areas. Entrance fees to Poas & La Paz not included. In the late afternoon you will arrive at your Arenal Volcano area hotel. Overnight at Arenal Volcano area hotel.

Day 03 – Arenal
Your day is free to enjoy activities in the area or relax at your hotel. Optional tours at extra cost include jungle trekking on Cerro Chato, a visit to Fortuna Falls, Venado caves expedition, mountain biking, horseback riding, or jungle river float trip.  In the afternoon, visit the Arenal Volcano and Tabacón Hot Springs. You will learn about the natural history of the volcano which has been active since 1968, and is one of the top five most active volcanoes in the world.  After enjoying a delicious buffet dinner, soak in one of the many spring-fed hot or cold pools, or enjoy the swimming pool with water slide and swim-up bar. In the morning, enjoy a guided walk through the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. The Reserve extends down both sides of the Tilarán mountains, encompassing six different ecological life zones. You might see the endangered Resplendent quetzal, three-wattled bellbird, or Emerald toucanet, as well as many other plants and animals. In the afternoon, get ready for adventure! Visit the Selvatura canopy tour and zip between platforms on a series of cables high up in the trees. In the early morning, your naturalist guide will take you on a two-hour boat trip to observe wildlife in the area’s canals. After lunch, you will visit Tortuguero National Park on foot, hiking on trails through the rainforest with your guide. Overnight Tortuguero.
