Day 01 – Fly to Managua Nicaragua

Day 02 – GRANADA – LAS ISLETAS – MOMBACHO VOLCANO – GRANADA
A.M drive to Lake Nicaragua for guided kayaking. P.M. Mombacho Volcano for a canopy tour (zip-lining tour) in the cloud forest. Lodging Hotel Real La Merced in balcony suite.
Day 03 – GRANADA – LAGUNA DE APOYO – MASAYA MARKET
Masaya Volcano National Park, P.M.Masaya Market
Day 04 – GRANADA – OMETEPE ISLAND
A.M. ferry to the dual-volcano island of Ometepe. Afternoon mountain bike or horseback riding
Day 05 – Ometepe Island
A.M. hike to San Ramon waterfall on Maderas Volcano and swimming in fresh water spring at El Ojo del Aqua. Lodging Ometepe Island
Day 06 – Ometepe Island to San Juan Del Sur

Detail Day to Day itinerary

Day 01 – USA to Managua
Meet and greet airport transfer to Managua for overnight accommodations.

Day 02 – GRANADA – LAS ISLETAS – MOMBACHO VOLCANO – GRANADA
Breakfast at hotel and transfer to Lake Nicaragua for guided kayaking
around the island archipelago of Las Isletas. Afternoon transfer to
the slopes of the dormant Mombacho Volcano for a canopy tour
(zip-lining tour) in the cloud forest.
Overnight: Granada

Day 03 – GRANADA – LAGUNA DE APOYO – MASAYA MARKET
Breakfast at hotel and transfer north to the Masaya Volcano National Park for hiking around the Santiago crater and up to the San Fernando cone. Then to the Masaya Market for shopping. Afterwards to the shores of the country’slargest of 14 crater lakes, for a swim and Lunch (lunch not included)
on the lake shore. Overnight: Granada

Day 04 – GRANADA – OMETEPE ISLAND, LAKE NICARAGUA
Breakfast at hotel and transfer to San Jorge for the ferry to the
dual-volcano island of Ometepe. Dock greeting and transfer around the
active cone of Concepción in route to Santo Domingo Beach. Afternoon
mountain bike or horseback riding.

Day 05 -OMETEPE ISLAND – SAN RAMON ,MADERAS VOLCANO – EL OJO DEL AGUA
Breakfast and hike to San Ramon waterfall on Maderas Volcano and
swimming in fresh water spring at El Ojo del Aqua.

Day 06 – OMETEPE ISLAND – PACIFIC COAST – San Juan Del Sur
Breakfast and transfer to the dock for ferry to the mainland. Dock
greeting in San Jorge and private transfer to the fishing village of
San Juan del Sur at its best hotel,

Day 07 – 11 PACIFIC OCEAN – San Juan Del Sur
Breakfast and lodging in ocean view rooms

DEC 12: MANAGUA

Private transfer to Managua Airport for departure back to USA.

Nicaragua and Costa Rica Volcanoes & Beaches Package is one of the most amazing ways to see Nicaragua and Costa Rica’s magnificent landscape of Volcanoes and beaches by combining both countries into this in-depth 20-day itinerary. This package is for the active couple or individuals who want to see and experience the rich history romantic culture of both Latin American countries in Central America.  Your journey starts in Nicaragua traveling north to Selva Negra, Leon, Granada, Ometepe Island and beach time in San Juan Del Sur.  In Costa Rica visit Arenal, Monteverde, Manuel Antonio and San Jose. This package includes all the transfers, transportation, local guides, sightseeing, accommodations, day excursions and some meals.  This itinerary can be combined with moderate to luxury hotels throughout the itinerary and is fully customized to a shorter length of stay.

Day-To-Day Itinerary

DAY 01: Home to MANAGUA Nicaragua
Airport greeting and private transfer to hotel in Managua.

DAY 02: MANAGUA – MATAGALPA,
Breakfast and tour of the nation’s capital of Managua with visits to
key political and cultural sites, including its historic center and to
see the incredible footprints left by the Managua residents of 4,000
BC. Transfer north along the eastern shores of Lake Managua into the
heart of the coffee growing northern mountains Matagalpa. Visit to a
gourmet artisan chocolate factory, where high-grade organic Nicaraguan
cocoa is transformed into handmade chocolates. Lodging in private
cabin surrounded by cloud forest.

Day 03: SELVA NEGRA
Breakfast and morning guided nature walk with local guide and
afternoon eco-hacienda or organic coffee tour. Lodging in private
cabin.

Day 04: SELVA NEGRA – ESTELÍ – SAN JACINTO – LEON
Breakfast and transfer to Estelí.  Morning drive through the onion and rice
growing region of Sébaco to the cigar capital of Central America,
Estelí. Visit to a small handmade cigar operation to learn about this
unique process (Mon-Fri only) or a culture tour of the city with
visits to the revolutionary heroes’ hall, pre-Columbian museum and
cathedral. Continue towards the Pacific Coast to the 21 strong
Maribios Volcanic Range, 5 of which are active. Stop at the village of
San Jacinto, in the middle of the densely active Maribios Volcano
chain, to visit with its population and see their fumarolic fields,
the result of water being superheated on a volcanic vein beneath the
earth’s surface. Transfer to León current location, founded in 1610.
Lodging in the historic city center.

Day 05:  LEON – LAS PEÑITAS BEACH – LEON
Breakfast at hotel and morning walking tour of Nicaragua’s
intellectual and artistic capital colonial León, with visits to the
world famous poet Rubén Darío’s house, a colonial home art gallery,
some of the city’s 12 colonial period churches, which includes Central
America’s grandest cathedral. Transfer to the wave-swept Pacific Coast
to enjoy fresh seafood (meal cost not included) at an outdoor
restaurant on the beach. Return to León, lodging at Hotel Cacique
Adiact.

Day 06:  LEON – LEON VIEJO – GRANADA
Breakfast at hotel and transfer south to the base of the smoking
Momotombo Volcano and the archeological site of León Viejo, now
declared an UNESCO World Heritage Site. León Viejo was Nicaragua’s
first capital before being destroyed by earthquakes and volcanic
eruptions in the late 16th century. It is now being excavated and the
tragic history of the site has come to light. Complete historical tour
of this ancient colonial locale. Transfer to Central America’s oldest
European settlement, early 16th century Granada. Granada is quickly
becoming a must visit for travelers to Central America for its unique
beauty, relaxed atmosphere and great dining possibilities. Private
tour of lake front Granada’s colonial beauty, history and art. Lodging
on historic central park.

Day 07:  MESA VILLAGES – MASAYA – GRANADA
Breakfast at Hotel and transfer to the ancient highland villages of
“La Meseta”, for visits to the mesa artisan’s workshops of Catarina,
San Juan de Oriente and Masatepe. All these precious towns have
colonial period houses and churches and a hardworking, native
population. After the highland villages, transfer to the historic city
of Masaya, populated for more than 3,000 years and the arrival of the
Spanish in the early 16th century organized the local artisans in
small workshops for export. Masaya makes the world’s finest hammocks,
as well as wood, leather and clothing goods, all created by hand.
Masaya’s friendly population has restored their 19th century outdoor
indigenous market for the sale of their hand made goods. Visit to the
active cone of Santiago at the Masaya Volcano National Park for hiking
(if level volcanic activity permits) or just observing the inside of
this big smoking crater. Return to Granada for overnight.

Day 08:  GRANADA – OMETEPE ISLAND
Breakfast and private transfer with your private guide to San Jorge
for the ferry to the dual-volcano island of Ometepe. Dock greeting and
transfer around the active cone of Concepción to Santo Domingo Beach.

Day 09:  OMETEPE ISLAND
Breakfast and hike to San Ramon waterfall on Maderas Volcano and
swimming in fresh water sprint.

Day 10:  OMETEPE ISLAND – SAN JUAN DEL SUR
Breakfast and transfer to Moyogalpa for the ferry to the mainland.  Dock greeting in San Jorge and transfer to the lovely half-moon bay on the Nicaragua Pacific, San Juan del Sur. Lodging in the center of San Juan del Sur.

Day 11:  SAN JUAN DEL SUR

Day 13:  SAN JUAN DEL SUR – MANAGUA – SAN JOSE – ARENAL
Breakfast and departure for international airport in Managua
to San Jose Costa Rica.  Take a short flight to San Jose where you will be greeted and transfered to Arenal and your hotel.

Day 14:ARENAL
Morning – Arenal Hanging Bridges Tour –
The Arenal Hanging Bridges tour takes place on a 600 acre reserve filled with lush vegetation and a variety of birds and animals which your experienced guide will help you spot. The trail itself is 1.9 miles (3.1 km) in length, crossing nine fixed bridges and 6 suspension bridges and is laid out at a maximum grade of 7 degrees so that anyone can walk it. Afternoon excursions to Arenal Volcano and Tabacon Hot Springs.
The Arenal Volcano tour transports guests to the active northwest side of the volcano. The tour begins with a hike and depending upon which side of the volcano the lava is flowing, we go either to the trail “Los Tucanes” at the National Park or Mirador El Silencio..It is possible to observe a great variety of plants, wildlife, magnificent lava rock formations and the Arenal Lake just in time for sunset!

During the tour, our experienced guides will provide interesting and educational information regarding the history of the majestic mountain and the Arenal Volcano National Park. The tour concludes with a relaxing stop at the Tabacon mineral hot springs, where you will enjoy a buffet dinner and relaxation in the hot springs.

Day 15:  ARENAL TO MONTEVERDE
In the morning you will meet your shared shuttle transfer outside the hotel for your ground and boat transfer across Lake Arenal to Monteverde  Afternoon is free.

Day 16 MONTEVERDE CLOUD FOREST TOUR
Morning Monteverde Cloud Forest Tour.  The variable climate and altitude of the protected Monteverde Reserve have produced an extremely diverse group of flora and fauna in a small area. The cloud forest features majestically tall trees festooned with orchids, bromeliads, ferns, vines, and mosses.  Wildlife species seen in the area include the jaguar, Baird´s tapir, three-wattled bellbird, bare-necked umbrella bird, and resplendent quetzal. This half day tour includes transportation, a tour guide, and entrance fees.
Afternoon canopy tour in the Monteverde Cloud Forest features a system of trails and zip lines offering the opportunity to observe nature in the treetops. You’ll soar from platform to platform high above the ground.  In addition to the zip lines, the tour also includes a number of trails and suspension bridges through the lower levels of the forest allowing visitors to fully explore the world of the cloud forest. Transportation, entrance fees, and a guide for the canopy tour portion are included as well.

Day 17: MONTEVERDE / MANUEL ANTONIO
In the morning you will meet and greet your private transfer outside the hotel for your ground transfer to Manuel Antonio.
